7/6/07 at Rogers Centre

On Friday, July 6th, 2007, I left my house at 1:00 pm and headed off to the Rogers Centre. I was going to see the Cleveland Indians vs the Toronto Blue Jays. The trip there was very good as there was no traffic on the road.  I arrived at the Rogers Centre at exactly 3:49 pm and quickly went to gate 9 as this is where I had received my VIP pass. Img_3375_1 I wore a special necklace which said "VIP - Field Access Only." Later on I entered the stadium at 4:28 pm and quickly ran out to the field level. I was the only person in the stadium other than the two teams. The Jays were just starting batting practice. I was only allowed to walk on to the third baseman's side. I received ball #1 from Ernie Whitt. He was walking into the Jays' dugout and threw me a ball. After receiving my first ball of the game I hurried to see if there were any balls lying in the stands or near the dug outs. At first, I was disappointed because I hadn't been able to get another ball at either of the dug outs. My luck quickly changed when I had found a baseball lying in the LF seats. I was glad to snag ball #2. After snagging ball #2 I went back over to the third baseman's side on field level. Just shortly after, I was able to get ball #3 from Rafael Betancourt who is #63 on the Cleveland Indians. After snagging ball #3 I decided to go down to the dug out and I was glad I did because I was able to snag ball #4 as the Cleveland Indians' head coach Jeff Datz tossed a ball over to me. I decided to stick around a bit before I headed back to my seats. I was glad that I did because another kid was asking for a ball and he missed the throw leading me to snag ball #5.Img_3382  I received ball #6 from Jason Frasor when he was coming off the field. Just before the game started my friend Justin gave me ball #7,#8 and #9. He doesn't collect balls, only autographs. I would like to thank everybody that has helped contribute to my collection of baseballs!!

During the Jays' batting practice I had Vernon Wells, Aaron Hill and Matt Stairs sign baseballs for me. I was very happy with this.  I was very excited about this!! Thank you Vernon, Aaron and Matt! I appreciate it.

After getting three autographs I had the opportunity to talk to one of my favourite baseball players. Alex Rios! He shook hands with me and we spoke for a few minutesl It was nice to get a chance to talk with him!Img_3386

I was very surprised at this game because I had a number of people ask if they could have one of my balls. I'm sorry to say that I can't give them away! I am a collector of them and had to politely tell them no.

Stats:

Amount of balls snagged: 9 MLB balls

Total amount of balls snagged: 116 MLB balls

Next baseball game: July 8th, 2007 (tomorrow) - Red Sox vs Tigers at Comerica Park

Thanks Rick!

Charlie:

I just got VIP passes.

Everyone:

I will be leaving tomorrow morning to go see the Red Sox vs Tigers.

Wow! Sounds like you had a cool time at the Rogers Centre and it doesn't get any better than meeting Alex Rios!

Charlie:
I just got VIP passes.

Mike:

Thanks Mike! Alex Rios is a nice guy!

why dont u just answer the question? where did u get vip passes? u dont need to repeat urself...we saw it the first time...some of us are just curious as to how a kid like u gets a vip pass. thats all

and if u really got them why isnt there a pic of one or you with one on?...and why are u sitting in the outfield for the game?vip members would sit somewhere good. answer these

redsox342445::
First of all, my seats were at field level however I like to move around as this gives me a better chance to snag some balls. Secondly, where I get my VIP passes is not relevant to you. Also, the lighting in the outfield was better to take photos. They made me give the VIP pass back and I did not take a picture of it because I was too preoccupied with snagging some balls. To me snagging is more important than standing around taking pictures.

first of all, u had seats in the outfield. secondly you dont get vip passes otherwise u would be able to say where u got them from..no one makes u give ur vip passes back u are lying

here is the proof that u are lying...u have 23 dollar tickets in the picture and those are for outfield seats see for youself

RedSox, why would you ask if you have gotten a VIP pass before.. obviously you haven't so you wouldn't know where I got my VIP pass. I was going to talk about this in my next YouTube video but let me just say it now: my dad knows someone that works at the stadium so I got a VIP pass. I did have to give the pass back as it was a necklace that had a card with a code on it attached. Here's another thing: why would I take a picture of it if it had a code on it. Wouldn't somebody try and copy that if they swiped one? Explain this one to me: how was I able to get near the field to get autographs without having ushers shoo me away?? Usually if you just go up there to ask ushers will tell you to stop. I had a VIP pass and if you don't believe me then that is your choice because I know I had them and so do others so tough luck.

Redsox - Yeah, I don't know why Chris feels the need to be so secretive.

Chris - It's not a big secret that you have VIP passes, we're just curious. Because your trips to ballparks are interesting, people who read about them are interested to know details, and you shouldn't be so defensive about revealing them. They're not that secret. Remember a while back when I asked you what Minor League ballpark you visited and for some reason you wouldn't answer? That's not a big secret. In fact, it should have been in your blog entry about that trip in the first place. You're very odd.

Personally, I agree with Redsox that you are lying about all this stuff.

Gregory:::

If I were to reveal the name of the minor league ball park that is oh so close to my house I would be almost giving myself up for all of you to know where I live. I don't think you would really say where you live now would you? I don't see you saying the minor league ball parks you have been to. Maybe you might feel comfortable with giving out all that information but sometimes in situations like the one of you asking me for the minor league ball park I went to is personal.

Personally, I don't care if you believe me or not Gregory. Because I know that I got VIP passes and so do others. So please take your rudeness somewhere else. You wouldn't see me doing this to someone else.

THIS IS THE END OF THIS DISCUSSION

I'll tell you exactly where I live: New York City. My zip code is 10025. Even knowing that, you still couldn't find me. So so what if people know what town you live in. Plus, if you told me what ballpark it was, I still wouldn't know that you lived close to it! Whatever.

Not to be rude Gregory but what part of end of discussion didn't you understand?? Don't bother answering...

Also, here's a list of all the minor league ballparks I've been to:

1. Keyspan Park (Brooklyn, NY)

2. NYSEG Stadium (Binghamton, NY)

3. Tradition Field (Port St. Lucie, FL)

4. Roger Dean Stadium (Jupiter, FL)

5. Wahconah Park (Pittsfield, MA)

6. Doubleday Field (Cooperstown, NY)

7. Guv Fuller Field (Falmoth, MA)

Whatever. You asked a question ("I don't think you would really say where you live now would you?") so I felt the need to answer it.

Why are you so persistant with trying to aggravate me? You obviously don't like me or my site so why waste my time with your comments? I don't care about what you think so.. and anyways I have asked you twice to please stop. I don't see why you are trying to pick a fight. If there was a way to block you from posting on my site I would definitely block you.

I actually enjoy reading your blog. Your ballpark trips are actually very interesting. I just think that with more details/description, it would be even more interesting.

Gregory:
Alright Gregory, I will try to put lot of detail into my entries. Thanks!

I hope that we can just let this slide by. I want to be friends with everyone on MLBlogs. I am and will be trying to put more detail in as well from this point on.

Thanks

Thank you. That's all I ask.

yes i havent gotton a vip pass before but i have enough common sense to know that they just print up new ones for each game. how would ur code have any affect on someone swiping a vip pass...that has no affect whatsoever...how could u print up a pass just by a picture? answer that! u were able to get near the feild because u are a 11 year old kid and the ushers could care less if u go down for a minute...and this is getting u trapped in a lie because u said u had field level tickets but now u are saying that u had to have something else to get down to field level. plus no one goes to the blue jays games so that may explain the lack of attention paid to u going down to get an autograph. and i agree with greg, i enjoy reading ur blog..its very interesting but i wish u would just give a little bit more than "i just got VIP passes". if u just told us some details we could have avoided this whole situation.

RedSox:
Thanks! I will put more detail into my entries.

Chris:

It doesn't matter where or who got you the VIP passes -- Mr. Bread Sox should know that it's none of his business to ask you personal questions.

A very good friend of mine had a VIP pass to watch batting practice and a autograph session with the home team only. When BP was over he had to return the pass and then sit in his regular seat for the duration of the game. He was thrilled to be at the game and had the time of his life. Nobody asked him where or who he got the passes from. Who really cares as long as he got to see a MLB game live from New York!

yeah no problem chris, i really do like reading them...im not just saying that
mikelos-first off the bread sox thing is really stupid and makes no sense but im not getting in a nother argument like the one above so i guess u can keep calling me that...whatever....u wont be saying things like that when the sox win the world series!!! BUt no i wasnt asking him personal info, just wanted a little detail becasue i find this kind of stuff interesting...its not like i am asking for his address and social security number or something...so why dont u just mind ur on business and i will do the same from now on...u were not even part of the conversation

and chris, i agree with u on what u said about being friends with everyone...no sense in letting this get in the way and i think we can just let this slide by as a missunderstanding like u did with greg...thanks

RedSox:
Thanks Man!!

Mr. Redsox:

Please don't miss understand me. I'm also a huge fan of the Red Sox and Fenway Park --the best park in MLB!

Chris:
Don't let these guys try to bully you with their rudeness.

I cannot believe that those guys would take you to task for not revealing your sources. It's disgusting, but commonplace behavior among the Red Sox faithful.

First of all, if they're going to get nasty, use something else other than text-message jargon or idiot-English, or whatever the **** redsox342445 was using while calling your integrity into question. WHAT A JERK!

"if u just told us some details we could have avoided this whole situation."

It wasn't your fault, Chris! It was THAT GUY who obviously doesn't have anything better to do in life than to call a 9 year old kid a liar! Again, WHAT A JERK!

I always enjoy your posts, Chris! Keep 'em coming! Don't let knuckleheads like redsox90210 (whatever) or gregorybarash try to bully you. Unfortunately, dealing with jerks like them is one of the negative things that you've got to navigate around when blogging on the WWW.

You're ABSOLUTELY right not to give out any personal information; there's a whole lot of creeps out there! Who knows? These two could be creeps themselves for all you know!

Keep up the GREAT work, Chris! I'll keep on reading!

Rick

Rick:
Thank you for posting your comments. I am glad you feel the same way as I do! I really appreciate your consideration.

oh sorry mike, i mistook them for being directed at me because u didnt like the sox...glad we can agree about something, (best park in baseball), sorry agian

listen rick- there is no need to even bring up the situation, myself and greg an chris have worked this out and we have gotton past it, obviously u have nothing better to do with ur life if u r on here criticizing ppl's way of typing and are trying to stir things up when the problem has been resolved, if u ask me u are the JERK, and just so u know, ur stupid yankee faithful are about the rudest people you are ever going to meet, so i wouldnt be talking. so just shut up and mind ur own business, it didnt concern u then, it doesnt concern u now, so lets leave it at that, chris greg and i have gotton over it, so why cant u?

Thanks, redsox90210; you've proven my point exactly.
Have a GREAT day!

Rick

rick-shut up

Rick, what the **** is your problem? Redsox is right; this was completely over until you brought it back up. Go crawl back under your rock.

So, is this how grown men talk about games with a kid?

Disgusting. Grow up EMOs...

You dealt with them well, Chris, and don't put any more detail in your blogs unless you want to do so. It's no business of theirs of your personal life. Also, who reveals their address online, unless they're weird, and where were they taught grammar?

Sarah

who the **** revealed or asked anyone to reveal their address online?? where the **** does it say anything about the address?? Sarah-just shut up, this was all resolved untill u and rick decided that a conversation between gregory chris and me was ur business, and i will talk/type any way i want just grow up will u?

Hey Sarah, who the **** asked you your opinion? First of all, as Redsox said, no one wanted to know Chris' address. I simply remarked that I wouldn't mind knowing what BALLPARK Chris attended for his minor league game a while back. Then I made the example that even if I were to reveal my zip code (which I did), you still couldn't find me, so get your ******* facts straight.

Second of all, I don't know where you got the notion that we are "grown men" assaulting a little kid. I can't speak for Redsox, but I'm 17. And anyway, Chris clearly exhibited that he could handle the pressure without people like you and Rick "helping".

Third, who the **** insults another person's grammar? What kind of insult is that? Who ******* cares?

And finally, and most importantly, shut the **** up. This was 100% over and worked out between Chris, Redsox, and I until you and Rick brought it back up. So Sarah, kindly take a long walk off a short pier. Thank you.

yeah we arent grown men as greg said he is 17 and i am 16 and i am pretty sure chris can talk for himself, as he already did, saying that everything was fine, i dont think that anyone wanted or cared about ur opinion so just stop bringing this up, its done its over and more importantly it was never any of ur business in the first place..my god

So can we all agree to leave this alone?

yes please. everything is worked out so lets leave it at that

Wait. I want to keep arguing about it.

:-)

RedSox and Greg-

I understand why you might be dubious if someone leaves out details, but in defense of Chris, I just want to say that almost every time I get a media credential, I'm told not to show it or even TALK about it on the blog. So there could, in fact, be a reason why he wanted to keep his source secret. He might have even been putting himself at risk by simply mentioning the VIP pass in the first place.

To everyone-

It makes me sad to see people insulting each other back and forth like this. It's baseball. It's a blog. It should be fun. Let's keep it that way.

-The Baseball Collector

http://snaggingbaseballs.mlblogs.com/

way to go zack!! give them a piece of your mind :) LOL

i agree with u zack, thats why after the first intial posts i decided that this was ridiculous and stopped it rite then, as did greg, its these guys who keep stirring it up after myself chris and greg worked it out.

Zack, that's exactly why we stopped. It was completely over until those two people came out of nowhere and brought it back up for no reason. But I agree, this was stupid, and it's definitely over now.
